Cendrosa, also known as a Hivernenca variety, produces figs with a dense, jammy interior that carries a rich berry flavor balanced by caramel-like sweetness. The fruit has a chewy, leathery skin and a complex flavor profile, similar high quality experience of Black Madeira but with its own distinctions. This variety is vigorous, productive, and well-suited to warmer climates where it ripens reliably, though like other Hivernenca types, it may require a warm season to achieve its best flavor. In hotter drier climates like Central Texas, Hivernenca figs ripen in late July to early August. Within the Hivernenca group, Cendrosa is often compared to Lampeira, Coll de Dama Ciutat, Can Planetes, and Morro de Bou. They share the same intense, berry-forward profile while expressing unique differences influenced by local growing conditions and subtle epigenetic variations. Must have fig for any collector, but a star of any warm season collection.
