Coll de Dama Ciutat, also known as a Hivernenca variety, produces figs with a dense, jammy interior that carries a rich berry flavor balanced by caramel-like sweetness. The fruit has a chewy, leathery skin and a complex flavor profile, similar high quality experience of Black Madeira but with its own distinctions. This variety is vigorous, productive, and well-suited to warmer climates where it ripens reliably, though like other Hivernenca types, it may require a warm season to achieve its best flavor. In hotter drier climates like Central Texas, Hivernenca figs ripen in late July/early August. Within the Hivernenca group, CDD Ciutat is often compared to Cendrosa, Lampeira(1), Can Planetes, and Morro de Bou. They share the same intense, berry-forward profile while expressing unique differences influenced by local growing conditions and subtle epigenetic variations. Must have fig for any collector, but a star of any warm season collection.
